I still remember the first time a Doom Guard nearly sent me back to the lobby. My squad and I landed at Castle Doom, and I ran ahead like an overconfident fool. A Doom Guard opened fire from the throne room. I barely won the fight. As I stood over its downed body, I noticed a revive prompt. I was confused. Revive an enemy? That single moment changed how I played the entire Marvel season.

Back in Fortnite Chapter 5 Season 4, the island felt like a comic book event. Doctor Doom's Arcane Gauntlets were everywhere. Doomstadt and The Raft became my favorite landing spots. The Doom Guards were NPC characters that looked like armored soldiers. They were hostile when provoked, and they hit hard. But if you knew the right trick, they could become your temporary teammates.

🛡️ How I Converted Doom Guards into Allies

The process was surprisingly simple.

First, I had to find a Doom Guard. They usually spawned in major POIs. The places I checked most often were Castle Doom, Doom's Courtyard, and Doomstadt. Castle Doom was the riskiest because of other players. Doomstadt offered more cover.

Second, I had to down the guard. This meant dealing enough damage to put it on its knees. I made sure not to finish it off. If I eliminated it, the chance was gone.

Third, I revived it. I walked up, held the revive button, and waited. I learned to build a wall first. A revive in the open is a terrible idea, especially when other teams are nearby.

Once revived, the Doom Guard stood up, looked at me, and started fighting on my side. It was surreal. The former enemy now followed me around like a hired NPC. It shot at my opponents, took aggro, and occasionally saved my life. The only downside? It could be eliminated. If that happened, I had to find a new one.

This trick made weekly quests much easier. I could land at a Doom-controlled POI, convert a guard, and use it as cover while I looted or rotated. It also felt like a small victory over Doctor Doom himself.

⛏️ Dig Sites and Doom Henchmen

While exploring, I found another type of Marvel NPC: Doom Henchmen. They guarded dig sites scattered around the island. These dig sites were not marked on the map in an obvious way, but I memorized the locations after a few matches.

Here are the dig site locations I visited:

Dig Site Location What I Usually Found
Northwest of The Underworld One chest and three henchmen
Northeast of Rebel's Roost One chest and three henchmen
Southeast of Doomstadt One chest and three henchmen
Grand Glacier One chest and three henchmen
South of Grim Gate One chest and three henchmen
Northeast of Nitrodrome One chest and three henchmen
Summit Temple One chest and three henchmen
Brawler's Battleground One chest and three henchmen

Each dig site usually had one Dr. Doom or Avengers Chest and three henchmen. The henchmen would respawn, so I could farm them for ammo and materials if I needed to. But there was a catch.

The recruiting mechanic did not work on these Doom Henchmen. I tried downing and reviving them several times. Nothing happened. For the Week 2 Quest called Hire characters or recruit defeated henchmen, I had to complete it by hiring regular NPCs on the Battle Royale map instead. That detail saved me a lot of frustration later.

💬 Final Thoughts

Looking back, the Doom Guard conversion was one of my favorite mechanics from Chapter 5 Season 4. It rewarded players who paid attention. It turned an intimidating enemy into a useful ally. And it created some hilariously chaotic fights.

If you ever see a downed Doom Guard, do not finish it. Revive it. You might just get a new best friend for the rest of the match.
